From The Editor

Hi [[name]].

Recently I read a report that donations to charities were up for 2004. For the first time since 2000 it showed that giving was up and that Americans generously gave $248.5-billion to charity last year.

This shows a gain of 2.3 percent over previous giving. Wow! Isn't that some good news to read about?

Do you have your share of $248 Billion? That's Billion with a "B" folks.

Remember, the last newsletter when I said that, "generous giving is contagious"? Well, it starts with your board members, decision makers, committee members, then actual members before even approaching others in the community.

If the giving of your leaders and members is down, then you must reevaluate your giving strategy and try a new tactic. If your members are stuck in this "giving" rut, create a new fundraising project and ask them to support it.

You'll then be on your way to helping with next year's giving increase.

Banner Name

One of America's Most Profitable Fundraiser Products

We wanted to bring a Special Summer Promotion to your attention. Earn more profits this summer with Scratchcards at reduced prices! The more you buy, the less you pay!

Scratchcards have some of the highest in percentage profits of any product fundraiser on the market. Why are they so successful? Well, it basically mimics one of the tried-and-true methods of securing donations...just asking for it!

The novelty of asking someone to scratch a spot and then give what is beneath the spot is really just an "ice breaker" of sorts allowing the "asker" to feel more comfortable asking a new "donor" for support. That's why it works so well. Typically, the donor will round off their donation to the nearest dollar which ends up raising even more funds.

Take a look at these benefits: Buy Now, Pay Later...Up to 90% Profit...Brand Name Sponsor Coupons For Each Donor...Personalized Cards Available for any Group...Delivery within 7-10 Business Days.

Special prices are available that will be valid until August 15, 2005, so you must act fast. There is a minimum order of 20 cards (that's just $400.00), but will make $1,800.00. Also you receive a 10% free card bonus.

This is great for schools and teams raising money for upcoming trips.

Silicone Wristbands Promote Causes

Banner Name

What's all the big fuss about Silicone Wristbands. Is it a craze? A fad? An instant statement maker? Or something more?

Of course everyone has heard about Lance Armstrong and his yellow LiveSTRONG wristbands. Incidentally, Lance has just won his 7th Tour De France. Yeah!

It has been widely reported that Lance has raised $50 million for his foundation. But even more is the "Awareness Raising" that he has accomplished through this small, but effective item combined with his ongoing efforts. A silicone rubber wristband which is similar to the magnetic ribbons that are seen on vehicles to state a simple concept.

The Chicago Cubs convention sold 50,000 blue silicone wristbands in one day. Within 4 to 5 months, 500,000 wristbands have been sold and proceeds will go to helping renovate Thillens Stadium for the youth in Chicago's north side.

A recommended strategy for small nonprofit groups, sports teams, "thon" events and schools is to offer two or more different colors with the same phrase. This encourages individual supporters to buy all of the school or team colors.

We went looking for inexpensive silicone wristbands
just like the LiveSTRONG bands that smaller groups could afford.

The ones we've found for our visitors do not have the costly $200 to $400 in set-up charges and gives you free shipping. Don't pass up the opportunity to make a statement for your organization, school or group.

Book Highlight

Nonprofit Kit For Dummies

Banner Name

Nonprofit Kit For Dummies by Stan Hutton and Frances Phillips Is a comprehensive book for those new (or fairly new) to the nonprofit world with multiple decisions to make.

We like the book because it helps bring focus to making key decisions now and over the course of the next few months to the early start-up years.

It contains real-life situations to help you through budgeting, tax issues, fundraising, staffing, and facilities. If you are a beginner to the nonprofit world, this book is a winner.

It covers most all of the basics, but does not attempt to focus on any one specific topic with an all inclusive "How To" list to bog you down. I like that it quotes numerous other sources so that you can go to other books if looking for detailed information.

The cost is around $20.00 and is well worth it. As a bonus, you also get a CD ROM with forms and templates for you to use. We suggest that you add the Nonprofit Kit For Dummies to your Nonprofit Library.
