REAL STORY

A local church in Odessa, Texas set up a silent auction in late November of each year offering Christmas crafts and goodies.

Women made crafts and baked goods, while men and youth offered services like baby sitting and lawn work.

It was always seen as great fun and profitable for all.




REAL STORY

The Junior League of Waco hosts a Charity Ball.  The theme for the 1996 ball was "Hooray For Hollywood".  There was a "SILENT (Film) AUCTION" associated with the ball.

Items offered were associated with different films.  For example a dinner at Northwood Inn was listed with the movie Some Like It Hot. Valued at $100. Producer: Northwood Inn

Another was a Chair and Ottoman associated with the movie Pillow Talk.  Valued at $550.  Producer: Piplute Co..

Overall there were 39 different items (movies) listed in the announcement in the Waco, Texas community magazine.
